Here you go Auntie Glenda xxxx
After Townsville we decided to chase the sun to Airlie Beach.
We stayed at the Airlie Cove caravan park, it's about 3km out of town but has great amenities.

Airlie Beach. |
There are still stingers here but they also have a town lagoon, a bit like cairns but much bigger, the water is freezing though!
|
Our caravan park. |
Our second day there we went on a Whitsunday's tour ran by Voyager.
Our first stop was Hooke island where we did some snorkelling, although the weather was a bit cooler than we were used to the water temperature was still okay.
We also did a glass bottom boat tour here was the water was a bit choppy so it was pretty murky, couldn't beat the great barrier reef tour we did from Cairns!

Brenton Snorkelling |
There were not as many fish here either and they did have someone out there throwing fish food all around to lure them in.
Our next stop was Whitehaven beach, we had 2 hours here and enjoyed the sunshine!
|
Our boat. |
|
The water was pretty fresh here! |
Back on the boat for lunch before our next stop, Daydream Island.
Had a lovely stroll around the resort.
|
We loved seeing the little wallabies on the beach! |
|
Home time. |
After our day at the beaches we went to the Conway national park for a walk.
Very sticky amongst the trees!
|
This is where you end up. |
|
Lots of dead coral. |
We loved Airlie but all good things must come to an end so back on the road unsure of our next stop.
This was our next stop, just a rest stop about 40kms out of Rockhampton, a free nights stay, there is toilets and a pub across the road, it was very busy!
Busy and noisy, thanks to the birds.
|
Haha I loved this Kookaburra, he was so fat! |
|
Brenton had been eaten alive by Midgies in Airlie. |
Our next stop was a bit of the main hwy, the very small town of 1770 we stayed at the beachfront caravan park and it was packed!
1770 is built on the site of the second landing of Captain Cook.
A great spot for photographers, especially at sunset, I went a bit nuts!
1770 is a great spot for surfers and most do it to experience the novelty of surfing the most northern surf-able beach on eastern Australia .
8km from 1770 is Agnus Waters, Brenton was sick for most of the time in 1770 so I went and explored by myself, Agnus is a bit of a hippie town, very relaxed but a great spot to get some supplies.
|
Hhhmm...dont think I will be surfing today? |
|
Enjoying a ginger beer on our last day in 1770. |
