Bali

We did cheat a little on our 'oz' trip and took a quick o/s trip to Bali, it was so cheap to go from Perth we could not resist!

A huge thank you to my cousin Norri who woke up at 3am to drop us at the airport! xxx

After a short, bumpy flight we arrived in Bali and headed to our hotel 'The Kuta Lagoon', it was still only 8 am so we left our bags at reception and decided to wander around for a few hours before checking in.

We were hungry after our food-less flight and stopped at the closest non-seedy looking place to eat.

All this for $6.50, and it taste good!
After our bellies were full we were ready to enter the hustle and bustle of Bali!

Catering for the aussie art buyer.

And of course we wouldn't be in Bali if we didn't get a bin tang or 3, and sit people/road watching for a few hours, the roads/drivers are crazy here!!! It sure kept us entertained for a few hours!

It seems safety first is not a rule on these construction sites.

Heading back to the hotel Brenton decided he liked the look of a fish foot spa so in we went and Brenton bravely put his feet in the tank, they are meant to eat your dead skin, eeekk!
I had a manicure instead as I could not stand the though of all these little fish nibbling at my feet!

Here goes...

Brenton said it tickled and took a little while to get used to!

Kicking back!
After Brentons feet were feeling new and fresh it was back to the hotel to check in.

We got told the room we booked was not available, and we did not complain as we were upgraded to a villa, unlike us to have so much luck, although I did read on trip advisor it happens a lot at this hotel.

Our little villa!

The pool was massive.

There is a swim up bar.
We were wrapped with the villa and it was just across from the pool.

The outside bathroom.

Brent ready for a snooze.

We headed to water-bomb park on day 2, we got there right on opening, I think we were even the first people in the whole park, it was great though because we got to get on all the good slides without lining up!

The scariest slide at waterbomb park!

Brenton and I went on this slide as soon as we entered the park, at the top you stand in a tube over a 'trapdoor' and a machine counts down from 3 and the trapdoor opens and you drop straight down, shoot through a loop and out, you cannot see the loop in the above picture it's on the right hand side.

I think the anticipation of dropping is the scariest part, later in day all you could hear were the scrams of the people on this slide, even the men! I was so scared when I dropped I could not even scream!

You do have to be a certain weight & height to get on this slide, otherwise you wont get around the loop.

After the thrill of the first slide we spent some time in the lazy lagoon, you sit on tubes and it takes you around the park ,very slowly.
Nice and relaxing!

Our first slide with the tube.

hehe they are over so quick!

The slide below we went on a few times in the morning, the pictures don't really do it justice, you get a heap of speed up going down a steep slide and then slide back up the ramp, we thought we were going to fly over it, then its backwards (getting some air in the middle) all the way down, so much fun!!

There is something for everyone at water bomb park, a huge pool with a volleyball net and a swim up bar for those not wanting to go on the slides!

Brenton and I raced a few times down these ones.
We were like 6 year olds running all over the place, so much fun, after most of the day at the park we headed of to grab a bite to eat.

Satay sticks and bin tang, all for under $10

We walked past the bubba gump restaurant and couldn't resist a picture!

Big shoes to fill!

Bike crazy bali!

Back to the hotel with a bit of shopping.

One of our days spent in Bali we were feeling adventurous and decided to do a cycle/rafting trip for the day.

We left about 7 am and after picking up a few more adventurers we set out for the Mount Batur volcano at Kintamani, which is where the tour takes off.

It took well over an hour to get to the starting spot, there were a few ceremonies on in the small towns and thousands of people were wandering down the small streets with offerings balancing on their heads, an amazing site!

Mount Batur Volcano.

It may have been hot down below but up here in the mountains it was cold!

The balinese loved Brenton, mainly because he found it hard to say no!

Ready to ride, got our safety shoes on!
The ride was not too extreme, there was one major hill at the start and then it was pretty much all down hill from there, apart from riding on the roads you go through mud into the small villages and through rice fields.

One of the temples we stopped at.

A few locals weaving trays for offerings.

The rice fields, so green!

This man working on stone pieces for temples.

It was a really informative ride, we had a fair few stops, met some locals and learnt a little more about the balinese culture.

The ride ended up at the elephant safari park where we had a buffet lunch waiting for us.

We got to feed the elephants.
After a good lunch and a look around, it was off for our next adventure, white water rafting along the Ayung river.

Getting ready for action!

Nerds!
After walking down about 500 steps (our legs were shaking by the end of it) we got to the Ayung river and jumped in our rafts ready for some class 2 and 3 rapids!

It was so much fun, and the scenery was amazing, we even got to see some monkeys on the sides of the river, although they fled pretty quick when they saw us coming!

We all jumped out and had a swim half way, near a waterfall.

Brenton VS the waterfall.

It was a full on day, especially seeing as there were another 500 steps to walk up to get to our driver!  Well worth it though, it was so much fun, the next day was just spent recovering(bin tang in hand of course)!

Our last night in Bali we decided to go all out and visit an extremely fancy place that my cousin recommended, the rock bar.

It's located at the Ayana resort and spa (one of the most expensive hotels in Bali) near Jimbaran bay.
Brenton had to buy a t-shirt at the gift shop because there are no singlets allowed, also no board shorts or  bin tang branded t-shirts, very fancy!

So amazing! There are about 3 different pools and 4 different restaurants, all part of this hotel!

There was a line to get on the lift down (hotel guests get special treatment and have their own line)

View from the top, overlooking the bar.

There are stairs to get down as well, we took them on the way back up so we didn't have to wait.

We finally got down!

It's a shame the cloud disguised the sunset.

Beer here is pretty pricey (more than the average bin tang!)

After a few beers and enjoying the surrounds we headed to Jimbaran bay to have seafood on the beach, we picked our dinner and then sat listening to the acoustic band walking around, a magical night!

It was a great night and a great end to our Bali trip, now back to OZ!!!
